What is Patch RoboWars?

Patch RoboWars is a student-run battlebot competition where anyone from any background can participate. Each team receives a transmitter/receiver set, funding to build their robot, dedicated workspace, and access to 3D printers. Participants design and build their own remote-controlled machines to fight and disable opponents in a thrilling display of strategy, engineering, and combat.

Regular workshops at Dogpatch Labs with access to tools, 3D printers, and expert guidance.

Everything Provided

Transmitter, receiver, batteries, funding, and workspace - just bring your creativity!

Fight Rules

1.Fights are 5 minutes each, unless the judges call for overtime

2.Teams will have time between matches for repairs, but that time will depend on the match order

3.Winner / Loser is determined by the judges' scoring unless:

a.A bot falls into the pit of the arena (failsafes must be in place for this)

b.A bot can no longer move

c.A bot goes boom-boom

d.A team forfeits a match (in order to preserve themselves for future fights)

Patch runs a free, seven-week summer accelerator tailored for people ages 16–21 (and sometimes a little older) who have big ideas and the drive to bring them to life. Their program helps participants focus on building innovative projects, connecting with a dynamic network of peers, and learning from expert mentors and guest speakers.

By offering resources and support, Patch enables its teams to dedicate their full attention to developing their ideas—whether they're entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, designers, or technologists. After the summer, alumni join a close-knit community of creators and founders who continue collaborating through events, mentorship, and exciting new opportunities.
